WIAMan BLAST TEST ATD
The U.S. Army WIAMan (Warrior Injury Assessment Manikin) with embedded SLICE6 DAS, is the first ATD (anthropomorphic test device) designed to measure vertical loads. This biofidelic, warfighter test manikin is engineered to assess potential skeletal injuries of soldiers exposed to underbody blasts (UBB).
WIAMan BLAST TEST MANIKIN
High-Tech Blast Manikin for Military Vehicle Testing
In 2013, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory selected DTS as the prime contractor to develop the Warrior Injury Assessment Manikin. WIAMan is the first instrumented test manikin designed specifically for vertical loading. The most advanced, biofidelic test manikin in the world, WIAMan is built to withstand repeated high-energy underbody blasts (UBB), such as those from improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The test data is used to advance soldier safety, including next-generation military vehicles and protective gear. Unlike traditional crash test dummies developed for automotive safety testing, WIAMan delivers reliable and repeatable vertical load data (versus frontal, side, or rear impact kinematics). DTS SLICE6 data recorders and sensors are integrated throughout WIAMan to collect the critical injury data. |
