Rear impact dummies (RID) with in-dummy DAS (data acquisition systems) provide a more accurate response to rear impacts and collisions. Data collected from rear impact ATDs (anthropomorphic test devices) with embedded DAS give insight into the efficacy of headrests and other safety devices during this common type of accident which can cause whiplash and serious injury.
